Dr McGrattan is a Consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia at the Royal Preston Hospital in the north west of England. This is a busy 24-bedded mixed neuro and general critical care unit. Alongside his clinical commitment he is the Training Programme Director for Intensive Care Medicine in the North West of England, managing the training of 60 junior doctors.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. He has written chapters for “A Beginner’s Guide to Intensive Care Medicine” (Radcliffe Publishing) and “Anaesthetics for Junior Doctors and Allied Professionals.” He has published articles on Cerebral Autoregulation and Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia. His interests include Neuro Intensive Care, Sleep and Delirium on ICU.
